Bad Reichenhall v Innsbruck

Bad Reichenhall – 7

Innsbruck – 76

26th September 2026 – Innsbruck put Bad Reichenhall to the sword in their first road trip of the season.

Again, RCI started quickly, Patrick scoring in the first 3 minutes from a quick tap to make it 7-0 before the opposition had really touched the ball. Lucian then added his first try of the day with a burning run down the sideline to make it 14-0.

Reichanhall fought back though, in the first of many visits to the Innsbruck 22 in the first half, they capitalized on an RCI mistake to dot down under the sticks and make it 14-7.

It was from another of these visits that the turning point of the game happened – Bad Reichenhall’s second row seeing red for a flurry of punches on Jawad, who also got himself a 10 minute break for his troubles as well as the Reichenhall 9, leaving it as 14 v 13 for the next 10 minutes.

Then, Innsbruck produced something special – Taine making a line break off our 5 metre line, followed by an Omar break from a Lucian offload, and finished off by Lukas in the corner after going through the hands to finish off a coast to coast special. Patrick added the extras to make it 21-7.

As the game headed towards half-time RCI turned the screw with 2 further tries, both ones for the big lads. Firstly, Bailey strolling over off the back of a maul and then Taine touching down after a dominant scrum turning over the ball on the Reichenhall 5 metre line. Leaving it at 33-7 at half time.

In the second half, RCI’s experience and 1-man advantage started to pay off immediately – Domi scoring from distance just seconds after the restart. 2 more tries from Luci saw him complete the first of 2 hat-tricks on the day and put the result beyond doubt.

In the final quarter, 4 more tries were added – Patrick scoring 2 more for the second hat-trick of the day, Omar off a forwards set piece move, and Jack off a back’s set piece move.

Overall it was an excellent and dominant performance from the Mountainboys over a Reichenhall side in transition.

Huge thanks to Reichenhall for hosting a wonderful day at their beautiful ground – and for providing the footage you see above. Thanks to Jared for refereeing, to the volunteers for making the day happen and to Hanna for managing our crowded sideline casualty ward.

Next up for the Mountainboys is a weekend off supporting the ladies in their home tournament (Sieglanger, 3rd October), and then a home game versus StuSta Dragons on 10th October.
